If you value the long-forgotten historical landmarks and open spaces of the United Kingdom, National Trust is a great place for you to invest your time in. National Trust is a UK conversation charity dedicated to the protection of the nation’s vast green spaces and historical places that have been overlooked by others. Moreover, the National Trust is dedicated to opening up these spaces and historical landmarks to everyone in order to open people’s eyes to the natural and cultural majesty of the UK. Completely independent from the government, the National Trust is a charity that relies primarily on donations, legacies, membership fees and commercial revenue to run its efforts.
Over the years, the National Trust has amassed over 3.7 million members and 61,000 volunteers, each one passionate about the environment and cultural heritage of the nation. More than 17 million people pay for entering its properties, and around 50 million visit its open-air, free-to-visit properties. Since its beginning, the National Trust has gone on to protect and open up over 350 ancient monuments, gardens and historic houses the public, to awaken them to the nation’s history and culture.
Historical efforts aside, the National Trust has also worked tirelessly to look after the woods, fens, forests, beaches, downs, moorland, farmland, islands, nature reserves, castles, villages and archaeological remains of the land for everyone. The National Trust has grown and evolved into a highly-efficient organisation, managing its efforts with transparency and accountability for every action. The professional staffs at National Trust runs the properties under it and the organisation in general, while governance volunteers serve to support the staff and hold them to account.
